Prison Ministry

As many of you know I (Kai) head up this committee.  I currently have about 35 inmates from across the country that I write to.  I provide them with spiritual support.  Many are involved in Wiccan/Pagan groups within the prisons and are in the need of guidance in what types of things they should be teaching and/or learning.  When I start writing to an inmate I always include the Tree Meditation as I feel it is so important for them to first learn to protect themselves from negative energies, and to ground and center themselves.  They have a lot of time on their hands and they need to be comfortable with being with themselves.

I feel 2009 is going to be a good year for the Prison Ministry.  I recently put out a call for volunteers to help be out and was blessed with 6 more people to help me out on top of the one person who has been helping me out the past year.  Thank you so much.  Besides keeping up with writing the inmates there are two other goals that I have for the Prison Ministry.  They are: 1) I would like to finish revising the Wicca 1 class to make it a correspondence class for the inmates, and 2) I would like to get some shelves made to house the Web library so that I will be able to loan out the Web books to inmates.

These inmates are so thrilled with any information, support or guidance that we can provide them in their spiritual path.  I currently mail them all the WebNotes, and even though they do not know many of the people mentioned or are unable to attend the events the WebNotes makes them feel as though they are part of something special, as I have been told by many inmates.  This program is making a difference.  I am even in contact with someone who has been released and is working on creating a book that is designated as a survival guide for Pagan inmates.

So, I’d like to thank those seven people for helping me and our fellow pagan inmates out, and would like to thank the Web for supporting me and this committee in these efforts.

Donations

FYI!!!  The Web is at the threshold of a growth stage.  We hope to expand our Vision into Web help property, with greater community outreach in order to achieve our mission which is:

The Web is organized for cultural purposes, more specifically to provide community to those seeking earth-based spiritual guidance in an expression of 21st century pagan culture through ritual, one-on-one training sessions, retreats, classes and the arts.

If you want to help, The Web’s Donation Jar is in the dining room at Galen Road.  Feel free to drop in your pocket change or something quieter.

If you wish to make an on-line donation, do so through webpathpaypal@yahoo.com(please note what you are sending money for.)

Thank you, and Bright Blessings on your Path,

The Web Council of Trustees
