07 Mystic Faire

Mystic Faire ’06 – ’07 Fiscal Year

As you know in the 2006 – 2007 Fiscal Year we started implementing a quarterly fundraiser subsequently titled Mystic Faire.  These Faires were at first originally scheduled for the dates of February 17th, May 19th, August 18th and November 17th.  The time originally suggested was 7pm till 10pm.  Location for these Mystic Faires was scouted out and concluded to be held at the Lyons Community Center.  This location was chosen out of consideration of cost, size of rooms available and location.  Upon contacting the Lyons Community Center we had to change our times for these since the Lyons Community Center hours of operation did not include the times we had proposed.  It was agreed upon that we would hold afternoon Faires on Saturday’s.  Prices for these services were $10 for a Reading from their choice of readers available and a Mini Reiki session.  Due to confusion with patrons paying $10 and jumping from reader to reader without paying extra we had to further spell out our prices.  Advertising $10 for the first Reading and Mini Reiki session and $5 for each additional Reading.  Readers and Reiki Healers were all gracious volunteers that we appreciate so much!!  We also had vendors, volunteers for taking care of the children (providing crafts and face painting), cashiers and host/ess.   Also offered was a table for Web merchandise that was donated.

Our first Mystic Faire was changed from February 17th to March 10th, 2007.  This change was due to the time crunch of getting everything together, conflicts with other Web events and weather.  Operating time for this was 2:30pm5:30pm.  It was a successful event that brought in $140.01 gross which broken down is 14 patrons.  (Some of which had multiple readings and only paid for one.  Upon learning this we spelled out that 1 reading and 1 mini reiki session was $10 other readings were available for $5 each.  We live and learn.)  At this Faire we had a total of 4 volunteer readers: Webweaver), Shuvani Woman, Soft Moon Rising and Kalindra.  Alisha & Brittany  were in charge of keeping the kids occupied while readings were conducted.  Todd Washburn was our cashier.  And vendors were Earthcraftyr: Gifts from Nature’s Bounty, Black Sheep Gifts, Kallindra and another vendor.  Reiki Healers were Amethyst and Leviathan.

Our second Mystic Faire was held May 19th, 2007.  Operating time for this was 2:00pm5:30pm.  It was a successful event that brought in $193.15 gross which broken down is 19 patrons and $3.15 in our donation jar.  At this Faire we had a total of 5 volunteer readers: Webweaver, Shuvani Woman, Kalindra, Sophera and Madame Foxcraft.  Alisha & Amethyst were in charge of keeping the kids occupied while readings were conducted.  Ken was our cashier.  Diane was our Hostess (As we learned from our first Faire there was some confusion among patrons.  A Host/ess was needed to help patrons become familiar with what types of readers we had available and direct them to who they should see based on their preferences.)  And vendors were Earthcraftyr: Gifts from Nature’s Bounty, Black Sheep Gifts, Henna Penna was done by Anj, Comfort Cottage, Kallindra and another vendor.  Reiki Healers were Leviathan and Sam.

Our third Mystic Faire was changed from August 18th to October 13th, 2007.  This change was due to the unavailability of readers/healers/etc. conflicts with other Web events and other area Pagan events.  Operating time for this was 1:30pm4:30pm.  This one was under attended as we hadn’t known that there was a bigger Psychic Faire going on in Waterloo this same day till the last minute (Not sure if Angel Heart Chapel’s monthly Psychic Faire the previous weekend affected this as well.  We may want to consider this when scheduling other Mystic Faires.).  And only brought in $80 (8 patrons).  Still pretty good!  At this Faire we had a total of 4 volunteer readers: Webweaver, Kalindra, Denise and Madame Foxcraft.  Ken was our cashier.  Our Hostess was Kai and Saphire.  And vendors were Earthcraftyr: Gifts from Nature’s Bounty, Anj, Sam and Aurora.  Reiki Healer was Leviathan; Denise also did some healings for patrons she read for.

The November 17th Mystic Faire was postponed until January due to the closeness of our last Mystic Faire.  All in all we had a great run for our first year of offering these Mystic Faires.  Consensus was that word of mouth is what brought most of our patrons into our second Faire.  GREAT JOB EVERYONE AND THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!!!
