SummerFest 2005

The Tribe Lives!

Sustainability at The Web Goes Back to Basics

A shamanic approach to tree-hugging, earth-loving crafts of the Spirit

Presented by The People of The Web PATH Center, Inc.

June 22 - 26, 2005

With Our Special Musical Guests:  Merry Mischief

Every Summer The Web PATH Center, Inc., Clyde, NY, presents an outdoor festival centered on a theme which includes shamanic practices and earth based spirituality.

This year we are looking at our Intentional Community of the Web, how to live lightly on the land, reclaiming skills for a simpler way of life, how to prepare for emergencies, how to be safe and take care of the necessities.

It's 5 days of camping, rituals, Bonfires, drum circles, dancing, storytelling, and community food sharing, with a wide variety of workshops centered around the concepts of Sustainability and Intentional Community.

Sustainability:  Sustainable living might best be defined as a lifestyle that could, hypothetically, be sustained unmodified for many generations without exhausting any natural resources.  Voluntary simplicity is a lifestyle where the perquisites of a modern, industrialized society are left unexercised by choice for religious, spiritual, or existential reasons.  Permaculture is a school of thought emphasising sustainability in land use and landscaping.

Intentional community is a general term for planned residential communities where residents have greater social interaction compared to other groups of houses or apartments. They typically hold a common vision and share responsibilities and resources. Intentional communities include cohousing, residential land trusts, ecovillages, communes, and housing cooperatives. The purposes of intentional communities may include sharing resources, creating family-oriented neighborhoods and living ecologically sustainable lifestyles. Some communities are secular; others have a spiritual basis. Commonly there is a focus on egalitarian values. Other themes are voluntary simplicity, interpersonal growth and self-reliance.

Back to Basics:  Reclaiming and reviving skills and abilities that enable a simpler way of life that promotes community, encouraging growth and connectedness of people, honoring life and the value of people and nature,

and learning how to live “off the grid”.
