Shamanic Intensive I: Opening Inner Visions
Shamanic Intensive I: Opening Inner Visions
The Web’s Introductory Course in Shamanic Studies
September 8-9, 2007
Located at the Web 4030 Galen Rd. Clyde NY
The Web is presenting an introductory shamanic experience September 8 & 9 called Opening Inner Visions. It will be offered to the general public and to Web members for a dish to pass and $5 for materials. Additional donations are accepted but not required. All proceeds are returned to the Web General Fund to cover costs of Web programming. In Opening Inner Visions, we follow a 2-day schedule running all day Saturday 9/8 from 10 am to 10 pm with a bonfire in the evening where we will dance our power animals and on Sunday 9/9 from 10 am to 4 pm (breakfast is at 9 am).
We have as objectives:
-
To introduce more people to the shamanic practices of upper and lower world journeys including connections with animal allies, plant spirits and spirit guides and finding your personal power song.
-
To expand the Journey experiences of shamanic practitioners to include middle world journeys for divinatory information and journeying to the 7 directions.
-
To connect with the Natural World so we can learn to call the breeze, to dance our pulse and heart beat, to dance our power animals and to make stone readings using Suiseki which are stones that suggest mountains, lakes, waterfalls and other natural scenes and that are aethetically pleasing in shape and texture. They represent nature in the palm of your hand. Please visit the lakes or your own back yard to find one who agrees to come to class with you.
-
To inspire shamanic practitioners to participate in shamanic service work through demonstrations of shamanic healing, soul retrievals, psychopomp journeys or divination as the opportunities exist in the group.
You will need:
- Bring an outdoor chair, rain gear, outer wear suitable to the season for day time and night time, drums, rattles and your shamanic journey notebook.
- Bring a naturally formed suiseki (stone depicting a natural scene).
- Bring whatever you need to erect a personal altar outdoors. You may want to use only items found on the land, or bring a portable altar with standard magical stuff. That is up to you.
- Bring a lighter or fire started.
- Bring what you need as you choose to commute, stay over in the house or camp.
- Bring food and snacks and a dish to pass for pot luck lunch and dinner.
The Web also holds Shamanic Journeying, Drum Circles on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. From 2pm - 4pm or 5pm. This is an open circle of people practicing core shamanism similar to Harner's Foundation for Shamanic Studies . We use repetitive drum beats to enter trance and journey to the upper, lower or middle worlds for healing, training, to gain information from our guides, etc. We usually can get 2 journeys in along with teaching and sharing personal experiences. Bring a notebook to record your journeys, frame drum or rattle if you have them, eye shield (optional), and floor pallet (if you don't want to journey sitting up). Beginners are welcome. (Not appropriate for children under 10. )
